Waterdown to Finch Pipeline Project

Soil investigation prior to a 63-kilometre pipeline replacement from Waterdown, ON to North York, ON represented one of our most extensive projects to date. The project included overburden drilling and rock coring through thousands of feet of bedrock up to depths of 290 feet.

Geological Cross-Section

The route traversed several distinct geological formations:

  • Cataract Group — Starting in the Cataract G.P which includes sandstone, dolostone and limestone
  • Queenston Formation — Moving through Oakville, Burlington, and Mississauga
  • Georgian Bay Formation — Heading northwards through Etobicoke and North York

Project Scope

This project extended over 18 months of drilling and included coordinating most locations with:

  • All major pipeline companies
  • Landowners along the 63-kilometre route
  • Municipalities in each jurisdiction
  • Other third-party contractors

The extensive coordination required meticulous planning and ongoing communication with multiple stakeholders to ensure access, safety, and minimal disruption throughout the duration of the project. Our team’s ability to manage these complex logistics while maintaining high standards of technical execution was key to the project’s success.
